It always feels so surreal to see my house decorated for Christmas because when we bought this house three years ago, this is exactly what I pictured. Over the last three years I’ve spent countless hours DIY my way around this house making it feel like home and I’m so damn proud of myself for how far she’s come. ❤️✨ It’s so funny because every house that we looked at I would say to TJ… But where will we put the Christmas tree. And when I walked into this house, I knew exactly where I’d put it. 🫶🏼

SPRUCE MY SPACE: The Empty Walls Every week I mock up how I’d design rooms you submit and this living room has so much potential. The biggest issue with this space is that the empty walls are making it feel cold and uninviting. The first thing I’d do is add picture molding or some sort of wall treatment to the back wall, this will give the wall some more visual interest without overwhelming the space. I always recommend adding window trim and curtains to elevate your windows. Next we need to address the weird 90s fireplace… so many people struggle with the weird niches and chunky trim! I would remove/cover the fireplace so you have a blank slate, move the mantel up higher and paint with an accent color. If you’re able to get new furniture, I would recommend something softer and lighter so it’s not such a stark contrast. With a few simple changes, you can totally transform this room! SPRUCE MY SPACE: The Outdated Laundry Room Every week I mock up how I’d design rooms you submit and this laundry room has so much potential. The biggest issue is the pinch point between the washer/dryer and the cabinet under the window. Removing that cabinet would open things up, and you can add a washer/dryer topper to keep the counter space. With the dark floors, I’d lean into a moody paint color with wood accents, plus update the light fixture and vanity top to modernize the space. ✨ MUDROOM REVEAL ✨ This room has officially left 1990 and entered 2025… and DAMN SHE LOOKS GOOD 😉 When most people enter our house, they come through the side door and enter into this mudroom. I feel like for so long. It hasn’t been an accurate representation of all the work I’ve done in all the other areas of our home and so I wanted the first thing that people to see to feel the same as the other rooms that I’ve already poured so much love into. I wanted to keep the design simple, but my hope is that it would feel inviting and cozy, and that the vintage style wallpaper and bead board paneling would still keep our homes, character and charm.
