Real or faux? Who has to know?🌿 No room is complete with that final touch of greenery, but sometimes going for the real thing isn’t always possible. We LOVE our real plant babies, but this corner receives so much sun and we weren’t at the home enough to keep the various plants we tried happy. That’s when we turn to faux! A few tips to make them as real looking as possible: 1. A faux plant is never going to be good to go straight out of the package. Shake, shake, shake and shake some more! 2. Separate individual the individual strands to provide fullness. You’ll have more control over the styling once you complete this step. 3. Look up photos of the plant variety and pay attention to how it grows. Does it trail? Climb? Does it have a fluffier, lighter look? Or are the leaves heavy and hang low? Mimic this as best you can. 4. Plants love the sun! Faux plants will have wire throughout, making them easier to mold to the shape of your choosing. I like to point the strands towards the sun, just as a real plant would. Stretch and bend even the smallest details! The wire will retain the fullness you create. 5. As you go, straighten any crimped wire and keep playing until you get a look most similar to your inspiration photo. Have fun with proportion, and asymmetry is your friend! My favorite places to find faux greenery are @shopterrain @afloral @potterybarn @westelm! What else would you add to the tips above, and where have you found your favorite faux plants?🌱🫶
