2 years ago we got married in Tulum! If you’re thinking about a destination wedding.. here’s a list of things you must consider, especially when you’re getting married in the middle of the jungle! A lot of these we kept in mind prior to our big day but others we learned the hard way the day of. WEATHER - it was extremely hot in May in Mexico. And it was extremely windy at our welcome beach party. And we had a bad scare that we’d have a tropical storm the day of our wedding. So just keep in mind that weather is such a huge variant. I’d stay plan to have it inside… and maybe plan cocktail hour or one of the key events outside for a shorter amount of time. HAIR - If you have long curly hair like me… you already know styled straighten hair will not stay put in a climate like this. Plan on compromising and doing an updo. Wasn’t my first choice but had to wear a low ponytail bc my hair is long and again it was scorching hot DRESS -if you’re having more than one ceremony like me considering wearing two dresses - 1 for each event. The reason is my dress was pretty filthy from the bottom from our first ceremony in NJ. Or best suggestion is to have a tailor/ Drycleaner sorted out that could clean the dress in 1-2 days ALCOHOL - if you’ve found a place that lets your purchase your own alcohol that’s great but just know that between liquor, and everything you need for a cocktail menu will also add up to a seizable amount. ANIMALS / MOSQUITOES- burn Copal from a Mexican resin tree to keep animals and negativity away VOWS/ SPEECHES - keep them short and sweet especially if you’re outside and guests are waiting on you in the heat. BRING CASH- lots of it. At least in Tulum cash was necessary for everything. BRING A POSITIVE / PATIENT MINDSET - things will change, things will not go perfectly but if you stay chill there’s no need to explode BRING YOUR SOLID FRIENDS ALONG- having friends that are there to help you have the perfect day is a must. Grateful for those that are in my corner. MAKE LISTS: list of items to be taken to the venue day of. List of things kids need.. bring snacks. I forgot my long robe at my Airbnb and didn’t have time to go back to get it. LTKWedding LTKBeauty LTKMidsize
