i grew up in the era of palm-tree stickers and playboy bunny tan outlines (why were we like this), so now i’m in my “protect the skin, fix the damage, hydrate like a desert flower” era.

i went in today to get my tretinoin sorted out — i’ve been on it for about a year, but my old derm literally ghosted me on refills (girl???), so we’re starting fresh. sticking with 0.05 for a little bit before i bump up to 0.1 again.
if you want to try tret, you do need a derm or an RX, but i linked everything else i use and love in my routine on LTK. all the gentle, barrier-loving girlies that keep me from flaking off into the wind.

and yes…the Free People fleece is, in fact, my entire personality right now. i’ve worn it every day since it arrived. the color i have is sold out but i linked the exact fleece in the newer winter colors and they are so cute i could scream.

i started my skincare journey in january and these are the products that actually made a difference. fewer steps, higher quality, and slow consistency have been key. 🩵

morning: cleanse → vitamin c → moisturizer + sunscreen
(my sunscreen doubles as my tinted moisturizer and foundation)
afternoon: cleanse (if needed) → acne pad → moisturizer + sunscreen
evening: cleanse → tretinoin → moisturizer

i built up to using tret every night by starting slow. here’s what worked for me:
month 1 — 2x per week
month 2 — 3x per week
month 3 — 4x per week
eventually 5x, now i can do every night (but still give myself a rest day!)

✨ at the beginning i did the “sandwich method”...moisturizer before and after applying tret.
✨ now i just moisturize after.
✨ avoid your neck (learned the hard way), but do apply to the backs of hands + above knees 2–3x a week!

my skin never peeled, just purged a little but it’s handled everything so well. if you’ve been thinking about starting, go slow. it’s worth it.
