Foil packet nights are undefeated — build your own, toss it on the Blackstone, and dinner is done. Mom handled the prep, we just cooked, ate, and enjoyed. Perfect when the kitchen is under construction and nobody wants extra dishes. Everyone made theirs just the way they liked and not a single complaint at the table.

The fun part about writing a cookbook is you get to see behind the scenes of how books are made. I know so many of you have seen my book in the background of my recent videos but here’s a spoiler— it’s BLANK! This is what they call a dummy copy! It is so I can see and feel and hold my book before it is fully printed. In a few short months I will have the fully printed version and shortly after that my book will be officially published and in your hot little hands!

Stocking up for more than just our backpacks this year — loading the cart with pencils, crayons, notebooks, and all the things our local school district could use. Fingers crossed I grabbed the right supplies because this haul is headed straight to the school.

Back to school shopping is expensive enough when you’re just buying for your own kids, but this year I’m seeing prices that make me want to double check I didn’t accidentally grab gold-plated pencils, so we are doing a donation to the local school district to hopefully help keep the kids stocked up. I also got the chance to talk with @gewhitmer about what these rising costs mean for real families and how it’s hitting households hard before the first bell even rings.

The meltdowns, the gear, the naps, the sand in everything. But it gets easier. Somewhere around 5 or 6 years old, things shift. You catch your breath. You have fun. It feels doable—blissful, even.
