This one’s for everyone who was worried that we’d take away the character of the home 😉

We kept the original artwork and dining chairs but swapped out the tables/chandelier and ditched the rug/bulky curtains.

Small changes, big impact!

The most challenging part was installing the new light - it’s hard to tell (even in person!) but the painted ceiling is actually canvas with decorative moulding around the edges.

There was a hole cut in the center for the old light wiring but Steven had to be extremely careful when installing the new one so that he wouldn’t damage it.

When setting up the game room, we knew we needed to address the layout, the look, the amenities anddd the bookshelves. 😍

Filling those shelves was a bigger project than we thought and it holds wayyyy more books than we originally guessed. But we were able to fill most of it with gently used books and plan to fill the rest over time.

The new space is brighter thanks to replacing the bulky curtains, more comfortable with the big sectional, and packed with amenities like arcade games, a pool table, an x box and, of course, a castle-worthy library of books to relax and enjoy.

Day 22 at The Castle was supposed to be the day we loaded up the car and drove back to CA, but as you can see we are nowhere near ready to leave. 🤪

This day was filled with furniture assembly, cleaning, and patching and painting so we can hang curtains.
