My favorite beauty products and tips!

I have always wanted long, thick hair. Unfortunately my real hair is very fine, thin and brittle. I can grow my hair long, but it never looked good. So much so that I wore more hair up EVERY SINGLE DAY.

A couple of years ago I decided to explore the option of getting hair extensions. And let me tell you, they have made the biggest difference for me. I absolutely love them and cannot imagine not having them.

Make sure you do your research and find the right person. The kind of extensions I get are the Invisible Bead technique and my stylist is certified as an IBE Elite Artist. I do two rows of hair using 3 wefts per row.

This technique does not damage my real hair and is not uncomfortable at all. In fact I often forget I have them!

10 things I love and swear by as a 54 year old! Most of these things I have been using for YEARS!
1️⃣ @hourglasscosmetics mascara. By far my favorite mascara. I like a dramatic effect, and this delivers.
2️⃣ @lumify.eyes brightening drops. Instantly whitens and refreshes tired eyes.
3️⃣ @onequince $40 fisherman’s sweater (very on trend right now). It comes in 19 different colors and is 100% organic cotton.
4️⃣ @naturiumskin retinol body lotion. You know how important retinol is for your face, but your body benefits as well. This has left my skin sooooo soft.
5️⃣ @skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum is the gold standard in skincare. It brightens and helps with discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, and loss of firmness.
6️⃣ @mother Weekender flare jeans. One of my favorite cuts and they are flattering on just about all body types! I only wish they came in a longer ineam so I could wear them with heels (I’m 5’6”).
7️⃣ @therabreath I have probably been using this mouthwash for 15 years. My husband used to be quick to point out if I had bad breath. Not ONCE since I’ve been using this has he said anything! (No he’s not a jerk, just has a very sensitive nose 😆).
8️⃣ @davinesnorthamerica This powder does wonders for my fine hair. It adds volume and most importantly texture so that my style will hold.
9️⃣ @clinique lipgloss in Air Kiss. I struggle with lip irritation and I’m constantly putting gloss on (or aquaphor). This is the best for moisture, and stays on. I love this color because it lightens the color of my lips.
🔟 @thornehealth Fiber mend. If you struggle with you know what, this is life changing. It’s the only thing that has worked for me, and it doesn’t cause bloat.

My top 5 new to me products for 2025!

1. Refy brow gel—I have extremely unruly brows, and this is the only brow gel that I have found that will hold them in place (I’ve even tried Elmer’s glue stick 😆). The gel goes on white but dries clear.

2. Crown Affair hair perfume—this was a Christmas gift from my sister in law, and I LOVE it! I just stopped washing my hair everyday, and this is perfect for the days I don’t wash it (or even when you do!). It’s a great scent with notes of bergamot, citrus & some earthy undertones. Highly recommend!

3. Naturium Retinol Body Lotion—We know how important retinol is for our face, but it’s also important for all over skincare. I was surprised by how much I like this. It has left my skin so soft, like I bathed in oil but without the grease!

4. Tower 28 Milky Lip Jelly—I love a good neutral lip gloss that is semi opaque. My natural lips are really red and I like a gloss to neutralize them. This color Oat is 💯!

5. Lolavie Glossing Detangler—I use this on my wet hair to get a brush through it, but also I put a little on the ends of my dry hair when I don’t wash it. Not only is it detangling, it also protects from heat, helps control frizz, and adds shine. And it smells great!

Annnndddddd, I’m on the fence about the Sunday Riley Good Genes serum. It’s an exfoliating lactic acid treatment. While it definitely does its job, it is SPICY 🌶️! I’m a wimp, so if you are tougher than me I would definitely give it a try!

When you find a lipgloss you love, you buy it in 4 colors!

As someone who is constantly putting on lipgloss (or Aquaphor when I don’t have on makeup), I’m very picky. It has to have the right consistency, stay on, and easily come off of the applicator.

I bought the gold one and fell in love as soon as I put it on. I went back the next day & bought 3 more colors 🤪

This stuff is amazing!! It’s more like a lip oil, but not greasy at all. It’s so smooth and hydrating, has great shine, and the colors are 💯. I highly recommend !

I also love the NARS Afterglow lipstick!

This is by far my favorite moisturizer! I found it on accident when I was traveling. I left several of my products at home and had to find something that was fragrance free because of my fragrance allergy. Unbeknownst to me, all of Clinique’s products are fragrance free 🙌.

I fell in love with it immediately, and have repurchased several times. I went to the dermatologist the other day (bare faced), and she said my skin looked great. Quite a compliment coming from a dermatologist!

I have found the absolute best mascara. My holy grail, ride or die.

It’s the Instant Unlocked Extensions by Hourglass. It is the best for length and volume.

The added benefit, it helps to conceal my hooded eyelids. The longer and fuller your lashes are, the more they cover. And this mascara does just that.

I always use a lash primer before applying my mascara. (It’s like panties for your eyelashes 🤣). I love the Cils Booster by Lancôme.

These are the products I use daily for my “over 50”, “sensitive skin”.

My skin has changed so much over the past few years. I need so much more moisture now than I used to.

And I recently found out that I’m allergic to fragrance, so I’ve had to do a skincare overhaul. It has been a royal pain.

All of these products are fragrance free and do not irritate me, but they are definitely impactful.

Note, the vitamin A that I’m referring to in the video is prescription strength by Altreno. I highly recommend seeing your doctor and discussing if prescription strength is right for you. I’m also linking a retinol that I would use otherwise.

I had no idea until recently that all of Clinique’s products are allergy tested and 100% fragrance free. I guess I didn’t know because those things were not on my radar.

I am always applying something to my lips. I love a good lipgloss and love when I find one that’s a great color and feels good on.

I just recently found out that I am allergic to fragrance. It is not an easy task finding products that are fragrance free because soooooo many products have fragrance. And less of an easy task finding a lipgloss that I love that’s fragrance free.

That’s when I discovered the Pop Plush Creamy Lipgloss by Clinique. And it’s all of that—plush and creamy. It is like butter. I don’t like a lot of color on my lips, so the shade Airkiss is perfect for me.

Unfortunately as we age our lashes become weaker and thinner. And as you can see by the rise in false lashes, women are seeking thick, long lashes.

I love the look of false lashes (if done right), but they don’t work for me. So, if you are wanting naturally long, full lashes, then you need these 3 products.

I have been using a lash growth serum for years. I have tried many different brands. I have used Neulash in the past, and recently started using it again. I had forgotten how well it worked. I could see a difference in as little as two weeks. And the formula is not irritating to my sensitive eyes at all. Needless to say, that’s one product I won’t be switching up again. One tube will last you a very long time.

Adding a primer before your mascara acts as a base that helps to set the mascara. The one I use by Milk Makeup thickens the lashes and creates a volumizing base that conditions and nourishes.

And my holy grail mascara that I have been using for years is by Hourglass. It’s the Unlocked Instant Extensions, and it packs a punch. I always use 3 coats for a dramatic effect. It coats each lash in lightweight fibers. It lasts all day, does not run, and comes off easily with soap and water.

According to Vogue, the LED light masks are one of the most innovative beauty products of the moment. I keep seeing ads for them, but have never paid much attention, until now.

After I doing some research and deciding the masks do appear to be beneficial, I decided to order the one made by @mzskin. My decision was based on the fact that it has 5 different light options that target specific skin concerns, listed below.

Red Light: Stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which helps treat the signs of aging. It also helps with inflammation.

Blue Light: Ideal for treating acne-prone skin. It balances and clarifies, killing the bacteria that causes acne.

Green Light: The green light calms the skin, and is good for reducing pigmentation such as age spots. It also reduces the appearance of broken capillaries.

Yellow Light: The yellow light is good for sensitive skin. It boosts circulation and lymphatic flow (drains toxins) as well as soothing and comforting the skin.

White Light: This treatment penetrates the deeper layers of the skin promoting healing and skin repair.

These devices are not inexpensive, but I decided it was worth it. I am not someone who goes in regularly for treatments, so I feel that it's worth it for me.

My plan is to use the device 20 minutes daily cycling through the different lights.

MZ does not make a mask for neck and decollete, so I got the one made by @currentbody. It only has the red light setting.

I have been told on more than one occasion that women over 50 should not have long hair. So I got extenstions 😂

My hair is naturally long, but it is very thin and fine. Before I got extensions I ALWAYS wore my hair up. I hated the way it looked down. Now I almost always wear it down 😊

These are the products I use to get a blown out/wavy look:

Aveda Invati thickening foam: This is the best product I have found for volume and fullness without being heavy and weighing my hair down. I use about 6 pumps and work through wet hair.

Davines OI All in One Milk: Help soften and detangle, and it smells amazing! I use about 2-3 pumps mainly on the ends of my extensions (wet hair).

Davines Blow Dry Primer: To help protect from heat, it also works to add body and anti-humidity. I spray this all over before I blow dry.

Shark FlexStyle Air Drying & Styling System: I love the hair dryer. It's very powrful and dries quickly! The attachment I use the most is the auto-wrap curler. I use it on my shorter layers.

Hot Tools1 1/4 inch Extra Long Curling Iron: I section my hair into four pieces and curl.

Davines Texturizing Dust: This is a great product for fine hair. It gives my hair texture volume and helps hold it in place.

Kenra Volume Spray 25 Hair Spray: My favorite super hold hairspray without being too stiff.
