Here’s an easy summer outfit. Wear it at the beach for a boardwalk stroll and ice cream run. Keep it laid-back with denim shorts, a blue and white striped tee, and jelly ballet flats. Grab a grey sweatshirt in case it gets breezy. These denim shorts have a loose fit, are super soft, and have a 5-inch inseam. I wear a 10/12 jeans and I’m wearing them in a size 12 for an easy fit. #SummerOutfit

Shorts will always be the first thing I reach for over a bathing suit. They’re super comfy, you can run around in them all day and your rear is covered but your cute swimsuit is on full display. I’m wearing these shorts in a 12 for an easy fit and usually wear a 10/12 in jeans.

I love the bright color and fun one-shoulder ruffle on this Amazon swimsuit. The ruffle at the top draws attention to your upper body in a really flattering way. It has removable padding, which is helpful if you have a smaller chest. The suit is ruched and has compression, which helps smooth the tummy area.
The leg openings have good coverage, but the back is a little cheeky. I didn’t think I’d like that at first, but I was surprised that it actually makes your legs look a little longer. I got a size large, and it fits well, even though the one-shoulder strap isn’t adjustable. I have a 36-B bust. It comes in a bunch of different colors. #SummerOutfit

I picked up this cover-up and dress last year from Amazon. Then I saw celebrity chef Katie Lee Biegel wearing it on a beach day on Instagram; it’s that good. ⁠

It’s midi-length, hitting at the low calf on me, is made of lightweight 100% cotton, has a drop sleeve, and is oversized, so size down (I'm in a size S). It's not see-through, and it has pockets!⁠

Wear it as a dress, either belted or loose, or over a swimsuit from the pool to the beach, and out to dinner.⁠

Since it's oversized, rolling up the sleeves helps draw the eye to the waistline. Leave several buttons open at the top and bottom to break up the fabric and add movement. ⁠

My summer coastal capsule wardrobe has you covered for every event, whether you’re spending the summer at home or heading to the water.

Dinner out: Nothing says summer like a gingham dress. It has that retro, Jackie O. charm with a classic A-line shape that's perfect for my pear shape (Size M). These espadrilles are so charming, and a white cotton sweater is perfect for chilly A/C.

Cocktail hour: This red tee dress (Size L) has that same A-line shape. This denim utility jacket is my new fave, and a fresh take on a denim jacket that adds structure and keeps the vibe casual.

Boardwalk stroll & ice cream: Keep it laid-back with denim shorts (TTS), a blue and white striped tee, jelly shoes, and a gray sweatshirt.

Sightseeing & exploring: A light blue tee dress (Size L), two-strap sandals, and a striped tote bag work perfectly. Tie on a sweatshirt for air-conditioned spots.

Beach day: As someone who always stays on dry land under an umbrella, I go for shorts with a cute swimsuit (Swimsuit: L, Shorts: TTS) and keep them on all day.

Pool time: This time I've got white denim shorts (TTS) over my bathing suit with a linen shirt around my waist in case I need it for extra coverage from sun, rain, or A/C.

These gauze pants are as comfy as pajamas. I’m wearing them in Medium-Petite so they’re easy to wear with flat shoes at 5’6”. I also own a pair in the regular length and they work just as well.
